Bookkeeper

They specialise in providing accountancy services, tax returns, payroll, bookkeeping and tax advice to their clients. They are now looking for a part-time office-based Bookkeeper to provide support to their practice in Knighton, Leicester.

This is an exciting opportunity to continue to develop your accountancy career further in this newly opened and fast-growing tech-savvy practice. Delivering a personal service is key and you will have daily contact with clients, which will be supported by your team. You will also have opportunities to develop your skills further with continual training and guidance as the practice grows.

You should be able to work flexibly, in a fast-paced office environment. It may also be necessary to assist other staff from time to time.

The Job

The key duties and responsibilities are:

  • Liaising with clients face to face, via video, phone and email
  • Being commercially aware and looking for opportunities
  • Onboarding clients onto bookkeeping software and providing them with training where required
  • Bookkeeping
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Preparation of VAT returns
  • Preparation of management accounts
  • Preparation of Limited Company accounts
  • Preparation of Sole Trader, Partnership and Rental accounts
  • Chasing clients when work is due to ensure deadlines are met
  • Reviewing records and proactively following up on missing information
  • Liaising with HMRC
  • Liaising with payroll team members
  • Ad hoc work as required to facilitate operations (e.g. migrating clients to software)

Due to the rapid expansion and changing nature of their business, your job description will inevitably change. You will, from time to time, be required to undertake other activities of a similar nature that fall within your capabilities as directed by management.

Ideal candidate experience requirements:

  • Minimum three years of bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice
  • AAT or part-qualified ACCA or more substantial experience without qualifications will be considered
  • Able to produce up to trial balance from client receipts and records
  • Experience with Dext, Xero and TaxCalc is preferential but not essential
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience dealing with HMRC is advantageous
  • Payroll and CIS awareness are advantageous

  • You should be proactive, motivated and willing to learn, with a problem-solving attitude.
  • You will be confident in engaging with clients to build a rapport and offer them solutions and direction.
  • You should have the ability to multi-task, stay organised and manage your workload.
  • You should have good attention to detail.
  • Most importantly you should be a team player.

Salary and Benefits
